Obedience is the measuring rod by which a dog is judged as a human companion; it is important that your dog have good manners in public and in private. Obedience training not only teaches the dog what behavior is expected of him, it also teaches the owner how to be consistent in indicating to the dog the difference between good and bad behavior. Obedience and Agility judging offer an opportunity for the dog to be judged, not against another dog, but against a perfect score. Dogs receive and lose points based solely on the way they respond to commands from the handler. This is a dog sport that welcomes pure bred as well as mixed breed dogs.
